As
Sioux Rural Water was going through our Y2K checklist we have found the following sites to
be helpful and we would like to pass this information on to anyone that is
interested. We have found that the upgrades that we needed we were able to get by
downloading them from the web or obtain a CD from the manufacture off of the web, (these
upgrades were free of charge). |
| Checking Your Hardware: |
 | The first place that we found helpful to start looking is your computer manufactures
home page. Usually this can be done by typing ex: www.ibm.com
(by typing the computer manufactures brand name usually brings up their home
page.) On their home page they usually have a Y2K statement and help on
how to find out if your computer is ready for the next millennium. |
|
 | Another site that was very helpful in checking the computer bios was Ymark 2000 and can
be visited at www.nstl.com (this has a bios
testing program that can be downloaded free of charge). **This may be a
quicker test than surfing the web for your computer home site. |
|
| Checking
Your Software: |
 | The first thing that needs to be done is to establish the
different types of software that you use in your system. Not all of your software
may need upgrades, usually only software that is date sensitive. When looking at
your software don't forget your browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
